A Year of Excellent Achievements for our Year 11 Students

2 GCSE

In an academic year with 20 new GCSE subjects, a different, more challenging content, and terminal examination and on the 1 to 9 grading system, Skipton Girls’ High School celebrates a year of excellent achievements for the current Year 11 students.

This summer sees the new grade 9s awarded across all reformed qualifications. Grade 9 is not the same as A*; it is a new grade, designed to recognise the very highest performing students.

Early indications show that a total of 94, Grade 9 grades were awarded across all qualifications and 15 students were rewarded with a clean sweep of 9-7 and A*, and A grade equivalence. Notably, one Skipton Girls’ High School student achieved a clean sweep of grade 9s in all her GCSE subjects, one of only 732 students across England.

In other accountability measures approximately 90% of students achieved a grade 5 or above in English and Maths and 92% of students were entered for the EBacc suite of qualifications.

Paying tribute to her students, Executive Headteacher Jenn Plews said ‘Our warmest congratulations go out to the 112 GCSE students who received their GCSE results today. The last two years in education have presented our students and teachers with many incredible challenges to the taught curriculum – I have nothing but praise for our students who have shown great resilience and determination during this unpredictable time in education. We focus on our students being curious, focused, collaborative and imaginative – we believe these are the hallmarks of learning and set our young people up to become rounded adults, ready to flourish and succeed, equipped to go on and change the world for the better’.

5 GCSECongratulations to all our GCSE Students
