Dear Parents of HHS Students,
In the light of the evidence that is required to construct a GCSE or Vocational grades, your students will be conducting at least three in class assessments to give them the best chance to show us what they can do in all subjects. For BTEC qualifications, teachers will base judgment on coursework completion. WE WILL NOT BE CONDUCTING FORMAL MOCK EXAMS!
Any assessments will be conducted in lesson under controlled conditions, this will inform teacher judgement.
It is important to try not to miss assessments, but it will not affect judgements. These assessments will form an evidence base for awarding bodies to justify awarded grades.
From now until mid-June students will assessed in a supportive, yet controlled manner at the following times.
These assessments will directly inform the judgment of the teaching staff to form final grades. Doing badly in one assessment, does not mean the grade will be affected, we will be looking to award a grade that reflects what they can do, not what you cannot.
They will receive their grades on 12/08/21 during the summer break and they may appeal under certain conditions.
To support them they will be able to attend Extra Study Support after school from 2:30 to 3:30 to help prepare for the relevant assessments on the following days. Their teachers will share actual locations and content of sessions. These sessions will start from the 15/03/21, they are advised but not compulsory.
